Video: GM one-step closer to emerging from bankruptcy

A bankruptcy judge says GM can sell the bulk of its assets to a new company, clearing the way for the automaker to quickly emerge from bankruptcy. The Detroit car maker's Chapter 11 filing on June 1 was the fourth-largest in U.S. history.

A judge can eliminate the debt from GM, but he can't eliminate the competition. Unfortunately, GM still has to deal with intense competition in product and new product development process against Kia, Hyundai, Tata Motors, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc. GM may have changed its balance sheet, but not its management or decision making processes, which bodes poorly for its future.
